BUT!!
Here's my advice on what I would do:
If you have an older friend or brother/sister you should ask them to drive you to a store. Causally browse and pick the kind you want. When you go to check out it may be uncomfortable but try striking up a conversation on how "mom needs a lot of help around the house with the new baby."
When you get in the car the diapers will be bagged so your driver can't see them. If they ask what you got tell him/her that the other day you saw something really great for mom (or dad) at that store and thought you could get it for them (any holiday--mother's day, Father's Day, Christmas--you get the idea.)
When you get home do the same. If your mom is in the kitchen or something say, "MOM DON"T LOOK" She'll think you bought something for her.
If you want you could re-bag it outside with a bag from somewhere else.

Not without legal emancipation or parental consent. The age of majority is 18. Apparently a few states, such as Texas and South Carolina, have a loophole in that 17-year-olds won't be forced back into their parents' house if they move out.

The choice is up to the legal parents but if they saw something really traumatic i would recommend counseling
