There are some chances of getting Ability Spheres in normal and in boss battles. But if you want them quick, buy Ability distillers from a shop or merchant. To use Distillers, activate a normal battle, and throw the distillers from the Item section. Throw one at each enemy, and you get 4 ability spheres, simple as that!

∙ 14y agoUnfortunately there is no "Easy" way to get Lv. 3 Key Spheres. However if you kill the Defender Z (I think) enemy in Zanarkand Ruins he has a chance of dropping one. Two for an overkill.

∙ 11y agothe best way is to teach some the move 'Extract Ability', using that attack makes it very likely that you will recieve at least 1 ability sphere at the end of a battle

All characters can be used it just depends on your skill level with each. Cloud Strife is an often picked choice for his strong attacks and fairly easy to use move set. Many other characters can be chosen but I recommend Cloud.
