As what is known of so far, it travels to an approximate 500 m in length through free space researched in a previous study. Humans are capable of entering the caves at the glacier base, but further research of the Helm glacier cave is still needed. It is curently retreating constintly and is remaining/continuing to melt down due to global warming.
