However, Classical Music has come to be used to refer generally to music seen as 'traditional' music not from the 'popular' idiom (and in that I include not just pop, but also Rock-and-Roll, Heavy Metal, Jazz, Folk etc., etc.) - so music from the medieval through to the contemporary eras of the Western musical tradition.
