You should place the jack under the designated jacking points on the front frame of the van to safely jack it up. Refer to your van's manual for the specific jacking points location. Make sure the surface is flat and stable before lifting the van.
It is easier to just jack up both sides of the car separately, or drive the car up on ramps.

I have had to jack the van up and support it and place jack under the front part of the engine frame and remove the two front bolts for the frame (18mm head bolts at the corners) and lower the frame about two inches should give you the room you need.
