The knock sensor on the 1994 Pontiac Bonneville 3.8 liter SFI OHV 6-cylinder is mounted in the engine block. You'll find it under the hood on the passenger side. Look below the exhaust manifold in the rear engine area.
I would like to have a dimgram to show me how to put the hater core out and in on my 94 Pontiac Bonneville
Because there is nothing wrong with it. This is a common code that can relate to a number of components. The knock sensor itself is rarely the problem.
That car has a knock sensor, so you won't destroy it. It will, however, run terrible because the timing's so retarded by the knock sensor.
Knock sensors can be a pain to get to (located under the intake manifold) combined with being fairly cheap, it would be better just to put a new one on by the time you get to it. If you have a code indicating the knock sensor is bad just replace it and save yourself a headache.
The Nissan gurus put the knock sensor on the car for a reason. Unfortunately it uses the engine block for the ground and only one wire of the two in the harness is live. The knock sensor is not the easiest piece of equipment to get to so many people either live with the knock sensor being bad or bypass it. Once you get to the sensor, you can clean the engine block and the bottom of the sensor and reinstall. That cures the problem in many cases. The most effective safe way to fix the knock sensor is to replace it. If you want to take your chances you can research knock sensor bypass in your favorite search engine. There are a lot of articles with step by step directions so I doubt the procedure needs to be repeated here.
It will just keep your time from retarding use more gas put strain on engine.
17.4 ft-lb. - and make sure you put it back at the same angle the old sensor was.
On your 1988 Celebrity code 12 means the computer is working properly. You should always get a code 12 whenever you check for codes. Code 43 has to do with the Electronic Spark Control, specifically the knock sensor. It doesn't necessarily mean the knock sensor has failed, it could be in the wiring To check the knock sensor measure it resistance. It should read between 3300 and 4500 ohms. If it does not it may mean the knock sensor has failed. One of our cars recently posted a code 43. When we checked it out it turned out the terminal had come off of the knock sensor. When it was put back on it cleared up the problem.
under the intake manifold just had new ones put in +2003 6.o Chevy
The '69 block won't have a place to put the knock sensor....since there were no computerized '69 blocks. I have heard that you can buy a freeze plug with the correct hole to install the knock sensor in. I've also heard of guys drilling and tapping the freeze plug they have. I haven't tried it myself. That will be about the only options that you have if you want to use the '69 block and the knock sensor. Good luck with your build.
yes but if it is a blown head gasket it will make it miss and put steam and some water out the tell pipe if its not doing these things then check your anti knock sensor
YES. If you look at the passenger side of the engine block just in front of the starter you will see a small plug that is screwed into the side of the block. That is a coolant drain plug so you can get all the coolant out of the block. Remove it and screw the knock sensor in it's place.
