From the standpoint of basic functionality, you can put the switch anywhere. In a series circuit, there is only one path for current flow. If you open the switch, you interrupt that pathway and turn the circuit "off."

There may be practical reasons to put the switch in one place or another, however. Sometimes it's put in a particular place in the circuit for manufacturing reasons. In other circuits, safety may dictate that you put the switch in a particular place: in a ground-referenced circuit for example, you may want to put the switch so that one side is at the ground point.

Where do you put the switch in a parallel circuit?

Switches used in electrical circuits are wired in series with either a parallel or series load. In parallel loads, the switch is upstream from the parallel circuit, so that the switch will shut off all of the parallel circuits.

How do you add a switch to a series circuit?

usually in series

What can be put into a circuit to open the circuit?

A switch.

Can series circuits work when a switch is open?

No. Since the switch is in series with the circuit, opening it blocks the current flow through the circuit, turning it off.

How does removing bulb or opening and closing the switch affect a series circuit?

Removing a bulb - or opening the switch - breaks the flow of current in a series circuit.

An example series circuit might be what?

A voltage or current source in series with a circuit breaker or fuse in series with a switch in series with a light bulb.

Why are series circuit used for most control circuit?

Because The opening of any switch in a series circuit will open the circuit and stop the flow of current to the load

How does a house use a series circuit?

The most common form of a series circuit in a house is a circuit breaker (optionally in series with an on-off switch) in series with a load, usually a light bulb.

Where do you put your leads when checking continuity on a series circuit?

When checking continuity in a series circuit, you put your leads in series with the circuit or device being checked. You also make sure the circuit is deenergized and that it is open.

Where would you put an ammeter in a circuit?

in a series circuit or it will not work. Put it after the bulb

Why it is often not practical to connect the electric components (example of lights) in series?

In a series circuit, if one of the light's filiments opens the bulb will go out, but along with that light every other device in the same circuit will stop operating.Think of an electric light circuit, in your home, that is controlled by a switch. When the switch is turned off the light goes out. This is an example of a series circuit where ithe switch is in series with the lamp.

What are all the components of active clamp circuit?

a switch and a capacitor which is connected in series with the switch
