You keep them in their tank. You can either have someone come in every few days or get an automatic fish feeder. If you are only going away for 2-5 days, simply leave the fish as they are, they will be find without food for several days. Adding a light timer to your aquariums light fixture will allow them to have a better day/night sleep cycle while you are away.
Coldwater fish go with Goldfish (temperature under 70F). Tropical fish go with Bettas (temperature over 70F). Just make sure that you don't put any more than one Betta in a tank. So Bettas and tropicals don't go with Goldfish and vice versa.

Most livebearers are tropical fish. They can mix easily with most other community type species including Tetras, Danios, Barbs, Anabantids, Corydoras, Dwarf Cichlids etc.
It is never wise to mix animals from entirely different groups. Turtles are Amphibians and will wreck the water purity for tropical fish. They should be kept in a Terrarium not an Aquarium. In addition; most turtles are carnivorous, and will eat whatever fish they are housed with.
