Yes you can, but we noticed some staining to the floor and the concentration of chlorine near the tablet will kill things like small animals and insects. Kids would play with the tablets and hurt or blind themselves. Chlorine was one of the first poison gases used in ww1, you need to be careful. The floating containers for tablets are not that expensive.
You need to buy a dispenser in the pool section and put the tablet inside. Then place the dispenser into the water. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/184-8617042-3842165?asin=B000FZY2ZY&AFID=Nextag_DF&LNM=More_Categories|Home_%20_Garden|B000FZY2ZY&CPNG=sports&ref=tgt_adv_XSN10001
Chlorine tabs can be put straight into the pool, even if it is above ground. You can also put them in a container in the pool which will help them dissolve more slowly.
How much chlorine, shock treatment, and conditioner do we put in an 18ft. x 48in pool? Also, how often does this need to be done?
It dissolves slowly but surely, it will mix when you put your filter on!
Yes...I found that if you keep your chlorine a bit high in your pool it will stay clear...and by putting the tablets in the skimmer it just helps by releasing the chlorine.
Only a very small amount is needed, a cup should do, i woudl still recommend checking your test strips for pH and other related pool chemistry
Chemicals, especially chlorine, should not be allowed to sit on a pool's liner for any period of time. This will cause bleaching and could damage your liner.
We added an automatic chlorinator which has made life a little simpler--if you cannot do that we had floaters in our pool all the time with tablet chlorine & we have put tablets in the skimmer basket to quickly get the chlorine in the water.
Purchase a good test kit for chlorine, pH and total alkalinity. Add chlorine to the pool. After about 20 minutes - time for the chlorine to circulate - test again. If no chlorine 'reading - add more chlorine. As an example a 15' x 30' plaster pool with no chlorine and with the proper amount of CYA will usually take about a gallon to bring the chlorine readings up to near required standards. REPEATED testing and the addition of chemicals will give you an idea what it takes for YOUR individual pool. Note: the same size pool next door with similar conditions may require different amounts to acquire the same results. k
how do u stop the water from coming out the sides of the pool
Chlorine is usually kept in the pool at all times in the form of a tablet, if you mean the chlorine shock treatment which is a poweder that dissloves into the pool, I'd give it anywhere from 30 minutes to a day, depending on how much powder you've used to how many tablets are currently in the pool. Chlorine won't necessarily hurt you, since we swim in pools with it all the time, but it can burn your olfactory senses.
Do you have a chlorine generator? No.
normally when there is no reading for chlorine means that you need it, put 1 gallon of liquid shock in your pool. that will raise the chlorine level, cheryl
