To add R134a refrigerant to a 2004 Mercury Monterey, locate the low-pressure service port, which is typically found on the larger diameter aluminum line leading from the compressor to the evaporator. Remove the cap from the service port and attach the refrigerant canister with a charging hose. Make sure the vehicle is running and the air conditioning is set to the maximum cool setting while you add the refrigerant. Monitor the pressure gauge on the charging hose to avoid overcharging.
It won't bolt up to the stock 1957 engine.
To replace the wheel bearings in a 2004 Mercury Monterey, first, safely lift the vehicle and remove the wheel. Then, take off the brake caliper and rotor to access the hub assembly. Remove the hub assembly by unbolting it from the steering knuckle, and extract the old bearings. Install the new bearings into the hub, reassemble the hub, rotor, and caliper, and finally, put the wheel back on before lowering the vehicle. Always consult a service manual for detailed specifications and safety precautions.

NO ! and Why?
theres 1 on the front man. 1 on the rr man up by where you put the r134 for the ac. and theres 1 front and rr of the conv.
If you mix r12 with r134 air conditioning system, it will cause a high pressure in your airconditioning system and eventually damage the compressor and the evaporator. R12 is only for r12 aircon and something with r134, it can't be mix.
First, your 1998 Mercury contains no Freon which is R12. It contains R-134 refrigerant. You add R134 at the low pressure port. But the fact that you need to add R134 indicates you have a leak. It is illegal to add refrigerant to a system with a leak without first repairing the leak. Seek professional help and have the leak repaired.
I had this problem and it was the chimes of the rear hatch not stopping but just going to a low volume when the hatch closed. The chimes is suposted to just 3 ring times when the hatch starts to close.
First of all, you don't use R12. Rather, R134 which has the oil included.
