Anywhere inside (and in some meaning... outside too) the county something about carnival may happen, but basically out in the streets as well as in clubs, in podiums in squares and so on - no matter, either in big cities or in villages too (depending on each group of folks with their customs [tradition of amusing or not] or without such).

It depends on the year. But it is ALWAYS 40 days before Easter. (40 days before is the 'quarta feira de cinzas' so the real carnival begin the Friday before that, and it ends 40 days before Easter)

I have never been to a Brazilian carnival but Trinidad's carnival can be truly a wonderful experience for all
