While it is totally unconfirmed and I have not as yet been able to find any documentation... the story I have heard is that this canyon in southeast Arizona between the Dragoon and Little Dragoon mountains was oringally named after someone whose nickname was "Tex". Hence... it was called "Tex's Canyon". When the Butterfield Stage came through people would talk about "Tex's Canyon" and it gradually became known as "Texas Canyon". Again... totally unconfirmed... but I'm working on it. Researcher in Tucson
