Kinetic and solar are two souces of the energy that results in winds. Kinetic energy refers to the movement of the earth on its axis. Solar energy refers to the influence from the heat and light of the sun. Both sources are responsible for the movement of the earth's air. That movement is called 'wind'. Sometimes the movement is that of a slight breeze. Other times the movement is that of a howling tornado.
In general, wind is air movement caused by the heating of air by the sun, and by the different densities of large air masses. There are different winds on different size scales caused by different environmental conditions:
1) Global winds - a Jet Stream is a band of wind that circles the entire Earth at the boundary between cooler polar-influenced air and warmer equatorial-influenced air. A Jet Stream is closer to the Equator in summer, and closer to the Pole in winter.
2) Regional winds - large-scale wind patterns are set up as air flows from regions with higher pressure and higher density into regions with lower pressure and lower density. The Earth's rotation causes these wind patterns to revolve around the High and Low regions.
3) A Cyclone, Tropical Storm, or Hurricane is a regional-size violent wind pattern fed by energy from the rapid rising of sun-heated moisture over an ocean. Besides the regional winds which can exceed 100 mph and heavy rain, these giant storms also spawn many extremely violent local storms.
4) Local winds - these wind patterns are usually set in motion by local temperature variations. For example, warm air rising over sun-heated land will cause local winds; the wind direction will reverse at night as the ground cools.
5) Local storms - these often-violent winds are set up by the collision of warm moist air and cool air masses. Stormclouds form with fast-rising warm air (updrafts) and fast-falling cold air (downdrafts); the interior of the cloud takes on rotational patterns, like tornados lying on their sides. These Shear Winds associated with thunderstorms can be quite violent, although they pass by rather quickly. If the axis of rotation tips to vertical rather than horizontal, then that section of the storm is a Tornado.
umm i think wind makes wind and a fan?
Answer B
air in motion is called wind
winds is indirect form of solar energy
winds are caused by uneven heating of sun
Tornadoes get their energy from their parent thunderstorms. Thunderstorms and hurricanes get their energy from the latent heat stored in watervapor in warm, moist air. This moisture evaporates from the land and bodies of water due to heating from the sun.
Theory? The Big Bang Closer to the present? The Sun Differences in air temperature create wind, differences in air temperature come from the sun
the sun light forms it
No. Wind turbines capture the wind's energy and convert it into electricity.
windmills and wind energy
The difference between solar energy and wind energy is that solar energy comes from the sun and is in the form of waves. However they are both renewable energy resources.
unlimited supply of wind energy that is costless. With no hidden effects of wind energy the more wind farms that are around the less pollution in the atmosphere. Wind energy is a natural resource and if it is being used there is nothing being taken from the environment by harnessing it. Therefore there is an endless supply of wind energy and if many are placed it provide electricity for city's
wind-power geothermal biofules SaveFor instance solar energy, water energy, wind energy.
Ultimately, the energy in wind comes from the radiation we get from the Sun.
It first started in the 1986 World cup in Mexico. Hence the Mexican wave
wind energy is energy that is caused by the wind a example of this is wind turbines
Wind energy is not called solar energy. Solar energy is the energy from the sun, while wind energy is just wind energy.
Wind energy is just called wind energy.
Wind turbines (in a wind farm) convert kinetic energy of the wind into electrical energy. Not to be confused with wind mills - that turn the kinetic energy of the wind into mechanical energy.
solar energy is energy from the sun and wind energy is energy from the wind
Wind energy is derived from wind mills. These wind mills are powered by the wind and capture it's energy when it blows.
Wind energy is renewable energy.
Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Wind turbines do not create energy. They take energy from the wind and convert it into electrical energy.
Wind energy is transferred by wind mills.
Wind energy can be harnessed with wind turbines.
