Tarantulas have a wide range of origins, depending on their species. They are native to areas on every continent except Antarctica. Most of the common beginner pet species are from south America, as species from there tend to be more docile than those from Asia and Africa.

In almost any tropical or desert region of the world. There are several species in South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia, and some from the desert regions of the US like Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada.
