If you believe in Jesus...and you take your own life. You go to hell :( Do not commit suicide...God loves you no matter what your issues are.

if you really believe in Jesus you won't even consider committing suicide.

that thought is not even an option.

but of course if you are catholic, which I'm not by the way, you will go to hell because you won't be able to ask for forgiveness for your last sin.

We really do not know the answer to this anymore than we know the answer to where we go after we die naturally. The answer people will give will really depend on their belief system, and even within those belief systems, there are many different opinions.

Some beliefs from different religions/cultures:

Catholicism: Catholics feel that suicide is a forbidden act, but also say that the person may not be in their right mind when they commit the act. Is is the stand of the Catholic church that a person that commits suicide will be judged by Christ when the time comes, meaning it is forbidden by the church, but they still have a chance at forgiveness, depending on the situation.

Protestants: The opinions here or torn between groups. More conservative groups feel that suicide is self murder, refused the gift of salvation, and that the person will go to hell. Some more liberal Protestants feel that Jesus' allowed his own death for the benefit of others, meaning in some cases suicide might be allowed and heaven would be accessible. Other members of this group feel, like the Catholics, that it will be up to Jesus to judge the person's case.

Judaism: Modern Jewish beliefs on suicide feel that is is a result of mental illness (or not being of sound mind). There are a few exceptions, but overall, it is felt that the soul will go to Gehinom, a place to be purified before entering a higher place.

Islam: Islamic views on suicide are pretty straight forward. There are several verses similar to "He who commits suicide by throttling shall keep on throttling himself in the Hell Fire (forever) and he who commits suicide by stabbing himself shall keep on stabbing himself in the Hell-Fire."-Sahih al-Bukhari, 2:23:446

Hinduism: Hindus believe suicide is a form of violence. The person who commits suicide will continue to wonder the world as a ghost until their life would have naturally ended. The exception is to fast (abstain from food) to death.

Mormonism: Mormon beliefs are that a person that commits suicide was likely in a time of crisis, and may not have been in control of their own actions. The person is not to be dishonored for the act, and only God can judge their actions.

Buddhism: Buddhist find a difference in self sacrifice and suicide. Suicide is done for negative reasons, and interfere with the path to enlightenment. Due to this, a person who has committed suicide may be reborn into a negative realm.

Atheist: Atheist do not believe in an afterlife, so in Atheism, death of any type is simply the end. The morals and ethics behind suicide will be different per person, and generally reflect the cultural norms they have become used to.

Wicca: Many Wiccans believe that suicide is a violation of the Wiccan Rede. These Wiccans feel that the person that commited suicide will keep reincarnating into the same circumstances until they learn how to deal with them and cope.

Tribal Africans: Many tribal Africans believe that after death, suicide or other, that their souls will return home to Africa. During times of slavery, suicide has been an issue do to this belief. It was considered a way to return home.

Japan: The Japanese have a very complicated view of suicide, and at times it is considered honorable. Depending on the reasons, the ghost of the individual will come back to haunt their families or enemies until they die themselves. Other times they may be reborn into different realms. This is based on traditional Japanese culture. Many Japanese are members of certain religions or groups that will have different belief systems.

Sioux Indians: The Sioux believe that after a suicide, the soul is committed to wonder the earth until the time of their natural death would have arrived. At that time his earthly deeds are judged by an older woman, and he is sent to fields of endless buffalo and all of his deceased family and tribe. Some Sioux that have had loved ones die of suicide say that they revisit them in different forms, such as a butterfly, in times of emotional need.
