The Enola Gay (B-29-45-MO, AAF Serial Number 44-86292, Victor number 82) was built by the Glenn L. Martin Company (now Lockheed Martin) at its Bellevue, Nebraska plant, at what is now known as Offutt Air Force Base. Enola Gay was one of 15 B-29s with the "Silver-plate" modifications necessary to deliver atomic weapons. In the Hiroshima attack, this aircraft took off from Tinian island to deliver the atomic weapon.

"Enola Gay" was the name given the USAAF's B-29 bomber that dropped the first-ever atomic bomb, on Hiroshima, Japan, on August 6, 1945. The pilot, Paul Tibbetts, named the plane for his mother, Enola Gay Tibbetts. (see related question)
