The Holy Family, consisting of Mary, Joseph, and the infant Jesus, fled to Egypt shortly after Jesus' birth to escape King Herod's decree to kill all male children in Bethlehem. This flight is believed to have occurred around 4-6 BC, based on historical estimates of Herod's reign and the timeline of Jesus' birth. They remained in Egypt until Herod's death, which is typically dated to 4 BC, after which they returned to Nazareth in Galilee.
First Joseph and Mary went to Bethlehem to be taxed, during which visit Jesus was born; then the family fled to Egypt to escape the infanticide of Herod; then they came back to Nazareth, Joseph's home. When Jesus was older they also went to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover.

In Luke's Gospel, the Holy Family never went to Egypt. After the forty days for Mary's purification, they took Jesus from Bethlehem to Jerusalem, to be presented at the Temple, then returned to their home in Nazareth. They remained in Nazareth, because Luketells us that they travelled with Jesus each year from Nazareth to Jerusalem for the Passover. In Matthew's Gospel, the magi asked King Herod where to find the baby born to be king of the Jews. King Herod feared for his kingdom and sought to kill Jesus. This must have been at least a few years before he died of old age, because history tells us that he was not very concerned about the inheritance for his sons, and so must have feared for his own tenure. The young family fled to Egypt and remained there until Herod had died, but returned during the short reign of Arhelaus. They would have spent several years in Egypt.
The Holy Innocents are the children who were killed by King Herod in his attempt to kill the baby Jesus. They are regarded as martyrs by the Christian church for their innocence and are commemorated in the Feast of the Holy Innocents on December 28th.
Yes, Saint Joseph is considered the patron saint of immigrants. He himself was a migrant, fleeing with his family to Egypt to escape King Herod's persecution of the Holy Family. Many immigrants today look to him for guidance and protection as they seek a better life in a new land.
Joseph was warned in a dream to take the young child and his mother and flee to Egypt untill he hears from God again. (Matthew 2.13) So "the holy family" that fled to Egypt, were Joseph and Mary and Jesus.
Evasive Action, the Flight into Egypt ( in the sense of evasion, no airlines used! was in response to threats about Herod"s massacre plans. The Holy Family do not become aware of this horrible Crime until they return to Israeli territory. The attitude seems similar to someone finding out a destructive fire, say was on another block- Not On My Watch, not really Compassion ( oh, these poor children, innocent loss of life) there are some similarities to the Passover incident.
Mary, the mother of Jesus, is traditionally understood to be of Jewish descent, specifically from the region of Galilee in ancient Israel. There is no historical evidence to suggest that she was Egyptian. However, the Holy Family did flee to Egypt to escape King Herod's massacre of infants, which is a significant event in Christian tradition. This journey is often depicted in art and literature, but it does not indicate that Mary was Egyptian herself.
The Holy Family is the family of Jesus, Mary, and, Joseph.
The names of the Holy Innocents are not specifically recorded in the Bible. They are known collectively as the infants who were killed by King Herod in his attempt to kill the infant Jesus as described in the Gospel of Matthew.
