Where in New York City do most African-Americans live?

At the time of the 2000 Census, 54.8% of African Americans lived in the South. In that year, 17.6% of African Americans lived in the Northeast and 18.7% in the Midwest, while only 8.9% lived in the western states. The west does have a sizable black population in certain areas, however. California, the nation's most populous state, has the fifth largest African-American population, only behind New York, Texas, Georgia, and Florida.

There is no place where "most of" them live. All of New York City's neighborhoods are racially and ethnically diverse, with the notable exception of the Upper East Side, which is a predominantly white neighborhood (and also the richest neighborhood in the city, coincidentally enough).

Harlem, in Upper Manhattan, is the historic black neighborhood where the Harlem Renaissance took place, but Harlem has become very gentrified in the last 15 or so years, and now it has lots of white residents.
