Yes, the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary, the mother of Jesus.
This is found in Luke 1:26-28
The KJV says:
26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.
28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at this saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 and he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.
38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Luke 1:26, 27 - Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. [NKJV]
Archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary in Nazareth.
The Lord told him. (Luke 1.26. And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,)
Gabriel told Mary when she was sleeping
Galilee
The words of the angel Gabriel to Mary are recorded in Luke 1 :28 - 37.
You wouldn't find the 'Annunciation', as such, in the Bible, but the account of the angel Gabriel speaking to Mary is found at Luke 1:26-38.
Mary was visited by an Angel when she ws found with child of the Holy Ghost, (Matthew1.18) Zacharia was visited by an angel who struck him dumb for a season, (Luke 1.19,20); And Joseph was visited by an angel in Matthew 1.20 to tell him to take Mary his wife. There are many other visitations of angels to men in the Bible.
there are no pictures of archangels.read the book of Daniel in the Bible for a proper description of the messenger angel-Angel Gabriel..
Mary and her cousin Elizabeth are discussed in the book of Luke, in the first chapters of that book
There is nothing in The Bible about "Saint" Matthew. So nothing about "Saint Matthew with angel".BTW, "bible" simply means "book", sp "the bible" means "the book" - wgich could be any book. The term "The Bible", or sometime "The Holy Bible" has capital letters simply to distinguish it from other books.
One can find more information on the angel Gabriel in the bible. The angel Gabriel is mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments. One can purchase a bible from most book stores including WH Smith and Waterstones.
These words were spoken by Mary, the mother of Jesus, when the angel Gabriel appeared to her to announce that she would give birth to Jesus. This statement shows Mary's humble acceptance of God's plan for her life.
I can find no record in Luke of Joseph being spoken to by an angel. The record in Matthew does not record the name of the angel, only that this angel spoke to Joseph; Matthew 1:20. The angelic appearance in Luke to a man is to Zachariah, John's father, and Gabriel was the angel who announced John's conception and birth.
They both represent something from the story in the bible about Jesus' birth. Since Christmas is the celebration of the birth of God's son, the star represents the North star which the three wise men followed to find baby Jesus' birth place in Bethlehem. The angel represents the angel Gabriel who came to Mary to alert her to the fact she was carrying God's son and was to name him Jesus.
Luke Chapter 1
The only 'stories' about Mary are concerning the visit by the angel to tell her about her upcoming pregnancy, her visit to her 'cousin', Elizabeth, shortly thereafter (Luke 1:26-56) and the birth of Jesus. There is a brief mention of her going to the festival with her family , and taking note of things that Jesus did in his life , and a word here and there, but other than that, there are no 'stories' about her in the Bible.(Matthew 1:18-25)(Luke 2:4-7) .
