Where in the New Testament does it say the coming of Jesus was the fulfillment of the old law?

Jesus Himself attests to coming to "fulfill" the Law [the Ten Commandments]. Nor does He call them "the old law."

The Ten Commandments are as fresh and new and vital today as they were from before man was created. Moses merely "passed on to us in his writings" [see Acts 7:38] what God [Jesus Christ, the ETERNAL Creator God of the Old Testament -- see John 1:1-3] "etched in stone with His own finger!"

"Then as the LORD finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, He gave him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant [the Ten Commandments], written by the finger of God." (Ex.31:18 NLT)

"Don't misunderstand why I have come. I DID NOT come TO ABOLISH the Law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came TO FULFILL them. I assure you, until heaven and earth disappear, even the smallest detail of God's Law WILL REMAIN until ITS PURPOSE IS ACHIEVED. So if you break the smallest Commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who OBEYS God's Laws and TEACHES them will be great in the Kingdom of Heaven." (Matt.5:17-19 NLT New Living Translation)

And so, of course, the vast majority of modern professing Christianity DOES misunderstand why Jesus came... and DOES believe He came to abolish the Commandments... and DO teach God's Commandments are "done away."

In Jesus' "fulfilling" of the Commandments, the modern churches think it means "to abolish" them -- which turns Jesus' statement above into:

"Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the Law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to abolish them." [does that make any sense to anyone? totally contradicting Himself in one bold nonsensical statement?]

No. Jesus' "fulfillment" of the Law [not the "old" Law], the Ten Commandments... was to bring to Light - to Illuminate - the SPIRITUAL aspect of them in the hearts and minds of converted men.

Jesus reveals that "not murdering" someone means to, first of all, not be "angry" for no good reason -- which is an "emotional, spiritual" act that precedes the final "physical" act of taking one's life; with premeditation in the heat of anger and hatred.

"You have heard that the Law of Moses says, 'Do not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to Judgment. But I SAY, if you are ANGRY with someone [KJV: says, 'angry... without a cause' -- God gets angry, but not without a cause; man's disobedience to His Law], you are subject to Judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the high council. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell [Gehenna]." (Matt.5:21-22 NLT)

Jesus taught His disciples to "guard their thoughts!" Which is a "spiritual discipline" and fulfillment of the Commandments.

Jesus mastered His emotions through the Power of the Holy Spirit. He LOVES [fulfills the Law]... He doesn't hate [disobeying the law - see I John 3:4]. The Ten Commandments are God's [new and always fresh... not old] Laws of LOVE and RESPECT for God and for one's fellow man -- the most Selfless demonstration of which was in His Sacrifice for His creation... at the hands of His creation!

"I command you to Love each other in the SAME WAY THAT I LOVE YOU. [in other words: I COMMAND YOU TO FULFILL THE LAW] And here is how to measure it - the Greatest Love is shown when people LAY DOWN THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR FRIENDS. You are My friends IF YOU OBEY ME.'" (John 15:12-14 NLT)

These are some places in the Bible where Jesus talks about His coming "fulfilling" the Law; demonstrating God's Greatest Love. And where He commands His obedient servants [His friends] to do the same.
