Such an interesting question. Before I went to New York City for the first time on business, I was told to "watch out" because New Yorkers had a reputation for being difficult. Nothing could have been further from the truth; they were wonderful and my trip was fabulous. When I was planning the first trip to New Orleans, I was given a similar warning and, again, it was nothing short of fantastic with happy, cordial people who were completely open with their friendship and suggestions. I've had good and bad experiences in both the northern and southern states; it's really difficult to pinpoint a specific location where people are "nicest." In general, if a state has great weather (meaning the sun shines a lot) and if it caters to travelers, you'll find people who are nicer from the first meeting. It doesn't necessarily mean they're nicer in the long-run but you'll probably find them easier to talk to. Wherever you go, I hope you have a great time and enjoy every minute.
