Antarctica, has no residence Catholic population, others like the Islamic (and Japan up until the late 19th century) regimes only have underground Catholics who were horribly oppressed, and regularly tortured and killed. Nevertheless, Catholicism is practiced everywhere to one extent or another.

Catholicism arrived in Haiti with the arrival of Spanish and French colonizers in the 15th and 16th centuries. Missionaries played a significant role in spreading the religion to the native Taino and African populations.
