Sadly, Amtrak does not go to Colorado Springs. The only transportation between Albuquerque - Colorado Springs - Denver is by car, bus, or plane. That's not entirely true. Amtrak will take you from Albuquerque, NM, to Trinidad, CO; at which point you can take a motorcoach, coordinated through the Amtrak website for bussing to Colo Spgs...it would be an additonal two hours.
Lubbock does not have Amtrak service. The best you can do is take the Capitol Limited from Pittsburgh to Chicago. At Chicago, transfer to the California Zephyr and get off at Albuquerque, NM.

Unaccompanied minors 15years and older can ride Amtrak. They must have a valid photo ID to purchase tickets. Unaccompanied minors 8 to 14 can ride Amtrak with restrictions. An adult has to take them to the depot to buy the ticket and wait with them til the train departs. Similarly an adult must pick them up at their destination depot.
