Unaccompanied minors 15years and older can ride Amtrak. They must have a valid photo ID to purchase tickets.
Unaccompanied minors 8 to 14 can ride Amtrak with restrictions. An adult has to take them to the depot to buy the ticket and wait with them til the train departs. Similarly an adult must pick them up at their destination depot. There are other conditions that must be met, it is explained on the Amtrak website in more detail.
