Lake Disappointment is located on the Tropic of Capricorn in the Gibson Desert in Western Australia.
It is so big, that it can be seen quite easily on a map of Australia.
Lake Disappointment is very aptly named.
It usually has no water in it and has a very thick crust of salt up to half a meter in depth. Below the salt crust is a stinking blue sticky clay-like mud.
The salt is of such low quality that it is not being commercially mined.
On a sunny day, the white salt is so blindingly bright, that you cannot look at it without sunglasses.
