It will be bolted into the side of the engine block BEHIND THE STARTER if it's a V-8
You can not see it until you remove the starter.
The V-6 will be bolted into the left lower side of the timing cover / behind the harmonic balancer with you looking at the engine. You will have to slide up under the front of the truck and look up at the left front side and you'll see it.
