Ammunition can be found in alot of random places.try checking old bases and forts. you really dont need ammo if you have proper guns. get the alien blaster and gauss rifle, youll be good for all ur 1 shot kills, even on super mutants.
The most efficient way to gain relatively large amounts of ammo is to kill Raiders. Raiders usually carry 5.56mm rounds for assault rifles, .32 caliber rounds for hunting rifles and .32 caliber pistols, shotgun shells, and 5mm-10mm rounds. Because they almost always travel in groups, there's ammo a-plenty, and they're typically much easier to kill than super mutants, especially behemoths. They can be found in abundance in the metro underground and in south-southwest DC (there are a lot near rivet city). If you do plan to take on a behemoth, they carry ridiculous amounts of large-gun and some small gun ammo, but be sure to use a large weapon; a missile launcher will do, a Fat Man is preferable.
Buy it from the wandering (random) traders, Rivet City or any market stall, armoury or Trader.

no You could use the 308 ammo in an Enfield.
Any .308 Winchester ammunition.
a "308" measures .308 inches while most 30 caliber ammo measures .312 inches. Strange as it may seem both are classifies as 30 caliber ammo.
The .308 has a larger DIAMETER bullet, being 7.62 mm (versus 7mm) However, SOME 7mm cartridges may be longer than the .308, such as the 7mm Magnum.
Absolutely not.
There is no long action 308, it's a 30-06.
lighter bullet and more ammo can be carried as opposed to the 30/06 or 308
No, 308 Win is like the 7.62 X 51 not the 7.62 X 39. The 308 Win will not chamber in an SKS it is too long.
None... it is the same sized bullet (.308 diameter). You have to choose the selection of bullet when reloading 30-30 ammo for the type of bullet. A pointed bullet in a tubular magazine can present a problem when the rifle recoils. The ammo is not interchangable, you must shoot the ammo that the rifle was chambered for.
No. The ammo used by military snipers (not designated marksmen) is hand loaded by the Ordinance Corps. Also, the military doesn't use .308 - they use 7.62x51, which matches the .308 Winchester in dimension, but differs in areas such as neck angles and case thickness.
many types of rifle, some pistols like the XP 100 and that is about it.
Possibly. You would need to measure the headspace before you attempt this, though. 7.62x51 and .308 Winchester are dimensionally similar, but they are not identical.
