Oxygen Sensor There are actually (4) O2 sensors on your truck. If you look inside the wheel wells behind the fender liner, right about where the frame is one O2 sensor, the other is underneath the truck about half way back in relation to the transmission. If you see where the exhaust joints together, you went about 6" too far.
When you start looking at the O2 sensors, they are normally numbered something like "Bank 1 Sensor 1" Bank 1 is on the passenger side; Bank 2 is on the driver's side. Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor (near the frame, between the block and the cat) and Sensor 2 is near the Y-pipe (downstream of the cat).
Normally it is the upstream sensors (sensor 1) that go first. They see the harshest conditions. You will need; Oxygen Sensor Socket Anti-Seized Penetrating Oil Sometimes it will take 15 minutes or take a few hours it depends on your luck
If you are replacing an old O2 sensor with a new one you don't need a special socket. A 7/8" combination wrench will do just fine. Simply unplug the bad sensor from the vehicle harness and cut off the wires at the old sensor. Then slip the 7/8" box end of the combination wrench over the sensor and turn the sensor CCW to unthread it from the exhaust. The new sensor will have anti-seize applied to the threads right out of the box. Use the open end of the combination wrench to turn the new sensor in. Tighten as you would a spark plug. No need to over tighten.
Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine Sensor 2 is downstream of the catalytic converter ( after the exhaust gas has passed through the catalytic converter )
Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine in your Ford Expedition Sensor 1 is in the exhaust BEFORE it enters the catalytic converter ( upstream )
Bank 2 is passenger side. O2 sensor 1 is threaded into the exhaust system between engine and catalytic converter.
o2 sensor Bank 2 sensor 2
Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine Sensor 2 is in the exhaust pipe after ( downstream ) the catalytic converter
On a Ford Expedition : Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine Sensor 1 is between the engine and the catalytic converter ( upstream )
bank 1 is drivers side down stream o2 / bank 2 is drivers side down stream o2
There are 4 O2 sensors in 1999 suburban.Bank 1 sensor 1, bank 1 sensor 2 on the driver side before Catalytic Convertor. Bank 2 sensor 1 on exhaust Manifold, passenger side. Bank 1 sensor 3 is after catalytic convertor.
what year is the dodge ram? 1999 dodge ram 1500 has the bank 1 o2 sensor located right after the catalytic converter
A/F Sensor for Bank 2 Sensor 1. It is the O2 sensor on the front manifold.
That is the O2 sensor in the pipe after the catalytic converter.
That should be the O2 sensor just before the catalytic converter.
