Behind driver seat in with battery , have to take battery out to get ECM out. First check 20 amp fuse next to battery it is for the ECM , protects it.

Yes. Although the L-82 engine was not a Corvette "option" in 1981, I've seen at least one 1981 Corvette with an L-82 motor and that option code was clearly listed on the window sticker. I'm guessing Chevrolet used up the last of its L-82 motors in early production 1981 Corvettes. It did in at least one anyway.
