Water is conveyed through a system of flexible pipelines operating at low pressure and it is applied to the plant through drip nozzles. This technique is also called as feeding bottle technique. There are two types of drip irrigation: - surface drip irrigation (drip tubes placed on the surface, or hung on a trellis as in vineyards) and - subsurface drip irrigation (where the drip tubes are buried beneath the surface and water is applied directly to the root zone). Drip irrigation can also be supplied with a root intrusion inhibitant - to stop roots affecting the drip emmitters.
