try hitting fuel tank with a hammer. This will sometimes unstick the fuel pump and allow fuel to get to carb. This worked for me after $150 tow bill.

Nope, this guy is wrong. The thing you stick your key in is the ignition cylinder or lock. The ignition switch is a separate unit. Both are available for replacement. The cylinder itself is just a mechanical unit which operates the electro-mechanical ignition switch located a bit further down the column.
