If it is the 8 valve engine then ensure you adjust them when the engine is cold. inlet- 0.10mm-0.15mm, exhaust 0.25mm - 0.30mm. if it is the 16 valve engine then the valves are hydraulic. DONT KNOW WHO HAS TOLD YOU THAT ABOUT THE 16V BUT THEY ARE NOT HYDRAULIC THEY ARE ADJUSTABLE
On a 2003 Mercury Sable : In the Power Distribution Box ( which is " live " ) located in the front of the engine compartment by the battery ( # 30 is the fuel pump relay ) Also , # 16 is a 20 amp mini fuse for the fuel pump relay
Engine cooling fan RELAYS are located in the under-hood power distribution box. relays #15 and #16. The FUSES that control these fans are also located in the same box: fuse # 2 (30 Amp) and fuse #6 (50 Amp).
By running a ground wire-(jumper) across the terminals on the fan motor relay. Find the terminals that connect to the relay's switch, and short them out like the relay would do. Doing this will burn the electric fan motor out very quickly. Your best bet is to replace the relay and possibly the coolant temperature sensor. The sensor is about $16 and the relay about $14 and the fan motor about $38-$50 at Autozone.
According to the owners manual the # 16 fuse is a 30 amp fuse for the windshield wiper motor , wiper Hi / Lo relay , and wiper run / park relay In the power distribution box in your engine compartment ( Ford states to disconnect your battery before servicing anything in the PD BOX - which means your Ranger will have to relearn its idle , the radio clock and stations will have to be reprogrammed etc ) relay # 1 is the wiper park relay , and relay # 3 is the wiper Hi / Lo relay
