Where was tennyson buried?

Alfred Lord Tennyson, who died on 6th October 1892, did so at Aldworth House on his sixty acre estate on Black Down, near Haslemere, Surrey. (GR: SU926307) Aldworth House is now a Grade One Listed Building. It was built for Tennyson by Sir John Knowles in 1869 as a quiet retreat for the poet, enabling him to escape the attention of tourists and journalists who tended to make something of a nuisance of themselves around his Farringford home at Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. Aldworth is a large house, built in French Gothic style out of pale sandstone and had, what was in 1869, the luxury of piped hot water installed. A now Grade Two Listed cottage with four bedrooms stands within the grounds of the main house; the grounds having been reduced from the original 30 acres to 12 acres. On Alfred Tennyson's death, the house passed to his son Hallam who sold the property in 1921 to an Indian Maharajah, His Highness Sir Sayaji Gaekwar of Baroda. During WWII the house was commandeered by the Royal Navy and was later converted into a convalescent home. It did not return to private ownership until 1993 and the new owner restored the house and its grounds. At some stage a covered swimming pool was added, as was a helicopter hanger with a retractable helipad. The house was last put up for sale in September 2008, marketed by the estate agents Knight, Frank at an asking price of £10 million. This info is supplied by H.L. Gilrose using the principal sources of Wikipedia and the Daily Telegraph of 16th September 2008.
