There is a small secondary fuel filter on the to of the engine next to the oil filter, and the primary fuel filter is on the frame rail under the drivers side front door next to the front axle 4x4 drive shaft. The primary filter requires a large fuel filter socket, which I believe us 36mm.

You need to have it drained out.
It will do damage to a diesel engine. Drain the tank and flush the fuel lines. Do not run this engine with unleaded gasoline in the tank.
the mk5 mk6 mk7 diesel van standard fuel tank is 60 ltrs
you dont "tune" a diesel. fuel filter, air filter and an oil change only. no spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor..... nothing. THis is not actually true, but tuning a diesel engine is normally done by remapping the engine management system to allow more fuel into the engine, normally results in more power and torque, normally makes fuel economy worse depending on how much the map is altered, google diesel engine shops or engine remapping. The diesel serena in the uk 1991 -2001 2.3 diesel had the reputation as the slowest car in its class 0-60, 27.8 seconds, therefore i expect it will always be slow whatever you do to it, the later ones were supposed to be better.
0.042 pounds per square inch.
diesel dripping under a 7.3 powerstroke is usually caused by a small filter being clogged on the back side of the fuel filter housing is a small plastic part that will leak i cannot tell you what this part is called ,but this part can be replaced for about 60 bucks and with the use of some small alen keys, and a lot of patience insideis a tiny filter that that clogs up and causes fuel to leak the longer this is left in thei condition, the more fuel will eventually leak out you should also check to make sure fuel is not leaking from the "O" rings where fuel lines are attached at rear of heads these really are a pain to change out and a a specila o ring from ford only
