NEW ANSWER: The above answer is correct from the year 1988 and up. Your 84 model has a carburetor on it and if you look at the front of it you will see a medal line that is screwed into a 1-inch fitting that is screwed into the front of the carburetor. The fuel filter will be behind that fitting.
