its located in the engine compartment mounted to the passengers side wheel well. Its a black box about 4 inches by 3 inches. Try having someone turn the key while the hoods open, you should hear it click on and off. If it doesn't click, leave the ignition on and give it a few light taps to see if it does then. Either way it should be replaced. Had the same problem on my 92 2.3 lx and solved it by smacking it every so often to start the car, but be weary they seem to just get worse which mine did and finally got to the point where the car was stalling while i was driving leaving me fighting for steering and brake control.
