Much more gold has been found in recent years than was found in the Gold rush of 1849. Mostly because of modern mining methods not available to the miners in 1849 (such as heap leaching.) I read in a mining magazine that more Gold was found in 1994 than any year in this country's history.
Gold does not easily bond with other elements found in the earth. However, sodium bonds quite easily with other common elements such as nitrogen and chlorine, so to find pure sodium is unlikely.
Alluvial gold is found in the water and reef gold is found in rocks. Reef gold is worth more than alluvial gold. Hope this helps:)
