Greee and Israel were relatively unproductive areas under Ottoman control, but when those areas were brought under the control of nationalists, there began to be much more investment and development of regional technologies and scientific developments. As for revolutons, nationalism has led to numerous revolutions. Most of the independence wars in the Balkans that led to an independent Serbia, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, etc. were nationalist revolutions. The unifications of Germany and Italy were nationalist revolutions. The fights for the establishment of Israel, the creation of modern Arab States, and the development of Thailand from Siam are all nationalist revolutions outside of Europe.
