It can be found in mountainous areas all over the world...in particular, Italy, China, Turkey and Mexico, but also in Belgium, France, Great Britain, Spain, India, and in many parts of the United States, such as Vermont, Colorado, Tennessee and Alabama.

The Franklin Marble is a formation running the backbone of the Appalachains from Georgia to New York. IT is approx 1.2-1.3 billion years old. High presure mineral assemblages suggest the Franklin marble formed at a depth of around 8 miles.
