On Franklin half dollars, the mintmark (if any) is on the reverse above the bell but below the "E" in "States". For the Walking Liberty half dollar dated 1916 (and some 1917 pieces) the mintmark (if any) is found on the the obverse under the "R" in "TRUST". For later dates of Walking Liberty halves, the mintmark (if any) is found on the reverse on the extreme left hand side under the branch of the perch that the eagle is standing on.
