Mount Olympus is in Greece, and is their tallest mountain at 9570 feet (2919 meters) high. Because it rises so high into the sky the summit is often concealed by the clouds. The summit is perpetually covered in snow and is a popular tourist attraction for hikers, although it should not be attempted during the winter because it makes the slopes that much more treacherous. It's lower slopes are covered in dense forests infested with bears, wolves, and lynxes. With all the different wildlife around the mountain, Mount Olympus was declared Greece's first National Park in 1937.

The Greek Gods and Goddesses live on top of Mount Olympus with Zeus, king of the gods and the sky, as their ruler. The 12 major gods and goddesses all have their own Thrones where they hold their various councils. They are as follows: Zeus, King of the gods, god of the sky, storms, and lightning, Hera, Queen of the gods, goddess of marriage, women, and birth, Poseidon, god of the sea, earthquakes, and horses, Demeter, the goddess of the harvest or agriculture (basically anything that is grown for food), the Earth, and forests, Athena, the goddess of wisdom, war strategy, divine intelligence, architecture, crafts (such as weaving), and is the patroness of the Greek capital, Athens, Apollo, god of the sun, music, the Delphic Oracle, prophecies, poetry, plagues, medicine, and light, his twin sister, Artemis is the goddess of the moon, forests, and hills (just about anything wild) She is also the goddess of the hunt. (if you are a guy beware, she hates men), Ares, the God of War(he was more important to the Romans as Mars), Aphrodite, the goddess of love, beauty and sexuality, Hephaestus, the god of technology, blacksmiths, artisans, fire, and volcanoes, Zeus, or Hera (they both say the other did it) tossed the lame god down from the pike of Mount Olympus after birth (yes, all 9570 feet to the bottom. Ouch!) Hermes, the messenger of the gods (he was like the god's mailman) he is also the god of travelers, thieves, commerce, sports, athletes, border crossing, and the guide to the underworld. Lastly the god Dionysus, the god of wine, theater, and ecstasy (Yes, he is basically the god of drunks) he actually replaced the goddess of the hearth and home, Hestia. She stepped down from her throne to open up a seat for Dionysus, to avoid any conflicts the gods might have. Now you are probably wondering where Hades is during all these council meetings that the gods have, right? Well Hades was looked down on by the other gods, out cast if you will. Hades, the god of death and the underworld, and since he rules under the earth all the riches of the world belong to him.

Well, I am sorry about all this...it was rather unnecessary. I could have answered your question simply, in two words really..."In Greece" but of course I could not resist explaining all of this other fun stuff that goes with it. I am truly sorry I am very into Greek Mythology and i really like writing so this was fun for me. (You are lucky I restrained myself from going deeper, I almost did.) I hope you have as much fun reading this as I had typing it. Thanks for reading. Just thought I would state that I wrote this passage right before I made my own profile... just so that I have the credit. Oh yeah, and sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes. lol
