middle of the motor drivers side
The Oil Sending Unit on a 1988, 89, and 90 model Silverado is behind the driver side manifold. It is right above the oil filter. It is a canister that is bolted to a piece of tubing that leads to the motor.
it is with the fuel sending unit and is in series with the circuit that powers and measures the resistance on the sending unit via the float on the sending unit.
What size motor?
The oill sending unit is almost always on the back of the motor by the fire wall.
The temperature gauge sending unit, located on a 1989 Honda Accord LXI is located on the thermostat. It is the small connection with a single wire sticking out of it.
A couple of things that you need to first check. Is power present to the fan motor. If not look for the temp sending unit. check for power to the the sending unit. if there is 12v power present there then bypass the sending unit by crossing the terminals. if the motor turns on then replace the sending unit. If there is no power to the send unit, obtain a wiring schematic and trace the power source to the failed component
The oil sending unit on a 92 ranger 2.3 engine is on the drivers side of the motor. It is on the back of the head.

To test the oil pressure sending unit in a 1989 Ford F250, start by disconnecting the electrical connector from the sending unit. Use a multimeter to check for continuity; a good unit should show continuity when the engine is off and change as the engine runs. Alternatively, you can use an oil pressure gauge by removing the sending unit and installing the gauge in its place to directly measure the oil pressure while the engine is running. If the gauge shows normal pressure but the sending unit does not, the sending unit may be faulty and should be replaced.
the 3800 oil sending unit should be on the side of the block. It is screwed in right beside of the oil filter.
