it is found on top of the gearbox on the drivers side on a left hand drive car. check the wiring and the sensor. and clean .

The transmission overdrive relay is locate behind the fuse box.
The fuse box is located behind the front ashtray.
To replace it:
Remove the ashtray
After you remove the ashtry, pull the cigarrete lighter out, pull the cover of the lighter out, remove two Philips screws and remove the box above the ashtray.
the overdrive relay will be the one on the second row,far right side
its located at the bottom of the shifter assembly under the consol.

what years is it? My 83 244gl automatic switch went bad on the shifter and was stuck with overdrive off. I pulled the switch out and unplugged it. Then I connected tapped the wires together with screwdrivers and turned the overdrive on that way. Now i just drive with it on.
It is located in the intake pipe between the MAF sensor and the throttle.
