With the Hood up, at the front of the engine you will see three (3) Plugs. Each plug is connected to an Oxygen Sensor and are listed from left to right as follows:

1. OS 1, BANK 2

2. OS 2 BANK 2

3. OS 2 BANK 1

To locate the OS 1, BANK 1, look for the connector located near the left firewall & wiper motor next to the power actuator valve. Starting from each connector, you can find each sensor location.

Where is the 02 sensor 1 bank 1 located on a 2002 Nissan Maxima?

Answer I have a 2000 Nissan Maxima and the trouble code said that it was the same sensor you are asking about. I posted the wrong information yesterday and here is the correct information. I called a Nissan Dealership and asked their parts department. The o2 Sensor Bank 2 Sensor 1 is the front O2 sensor that plugs into the outlet of the exhaust manifod. You just have to jack the front of the car up and remove the plastic panel. You will see a curved pipe and the sensor screws into that curved exhaust pipe. It's at the front of the engine and under the car. I looks like you need to run the wire up and connect it at the front top of the engine. It's a blue wire on my car. I'm going to order one and replace it. 2002 maxima has 4 sensors. The harnesses for 3 of the sensors are near the radiator -- front of engine as described above. (The fourth sensor is in the back of the engine close to the firewall). The leftmost harness is for Sensor 1(bank2); has 3 wires and you can see where the actual sensor is as you stand over the engine. Sensor2, bank 1 sensor is a (heated) 4-wire sensor. Its harness is the third-from-the-left and has WHITE-wire . You can track the wire and you'll see that the sensor itself is under the car as described above. The internet/world-wide-web has instructions for you to do it yourself, you'll need a 22mm wrench, PBblaster (or WD40) to facilitate removing the sensor. This website has charts, etcetera for sensors (and other Maxima-items).
