passenger side of engine - front cylinder The engine cylinders are numbered 1 , 2 , 3 from front to rear on the passenger side of the engine and 4 , 5 , 6 from front to rear on the drivers side of the engine
first cylinder on driver side
Distruibutor rotates clockwise on V6 & 4 cylinder. On 4 cylinder the #1 plug is front of engine. On V6 the # 1 plug is located passenger side front of engine.
Cylinder 1 is located in Cylinder Bank One. A V6 or V8 will have 2 banks of cylinders. A 4 cylinder only has 1 bank of cylinders.
cylinder #1 is the first cylinder from the passenger's side on the rear bank.
Standing in front of the car it's the cylinder closest to you on the right.

Number one cylinder for v8 and v6 is always the front cylinder on the head that sticks further out on the front of the engine. The heads are offset on all v6 and v8 engines.
4 cylinder has 1 and V6 has 2.

the rear bank
It is the cylinder closest to the belt side of the engine. On a v6 it will be on the rear head.
First cylinder in back on the passenger side is number one.
