What are the two types of Boy Scout jamborees?

The Boy Scouts of America only has one jamboree- the national Scout jamboree held every four years or so. The 2013 National Scout Jamboree will be held at the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia.Similar events at district, council or other levels are usually called camporees or camporalls. Sometimes these are called jamborees, but the BSA officially reserves that term only for the national event. The BSA is a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), an international association for Scouting organizations. WOSM has a world Scout jamboree every four years or so. The 23rd World Scout Jamboree will be held in Japan in 2015Other Scouting organizations and international associations also have jamborees.

Should I go to the national jamboree in 2010 or Philmont?

This is very much an opinion question. The 2010 Jamboree is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but then so is Philmont. When I attended the Jamboree five years ago it was good, but in my opinion Philmont was more rewarding. If I were you though I'd try for the Jambo this year and then Philmont next chance you get. You can always go as an adult.

Was Walt Disney a Boyscout?

Yes, Walt Disney was a registered Boy Scout, in Kansas City, in 1914/1915, before moving to Chicago, and he reached the rank of Tenderfoot. Additionally. Mr Disney was a strong supporter of Scouting, not only in the USA but also across the world. A number of sketches and artwork was created with Scouting themes, the most famous, the Mickey Mouse Scout on the 1947 World Jamboree Newspaper. The artwork is stunning, and now the World Jamboree newspapers prints are quite rare and valuable. The original artwork was used, with permission from Disney Corporation, in 2007 for the "Art of Scouting" Tour at Gilwell Park, London, in celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Scouting worldwide. The Art Tour was visited by over 50,000 scouts/visitors in 10 days that summer. The original 1947 painting is owned by the U.K. Scout Association, residing with the archives.
