Well, you don't mention a year or whether your transmission is a manual M46 or an automatic AW70 or 71. Regardless, the relay is best accessed by removing the 7 screws that retain your glovebox. Remove the entire glove box as a unit and it should be directly to your left inside the area vacated by the glovebox. Rectangular in shape, it will be white for a later model automatic, orange for an earlier auto or blue for the M46 manual
VERY CAREFULLY.
Remove the fuse from the fuse box. Or remove the relay.
there is a little lever you have to switch to the left. It is inside the compartment where the on the bottom where the gear shifter knob comes out.
I second this question--only for a 1992 Volvo 240. My girlfriend would like to drive home...although she gets to stay here until it's fixed. ;)
Behind the center console to the left of blower.
under the dash, driver side
The 1991 Volvo brake light relay switch is located beneath the drivers side dashboard. The brake light relay switch will be above the brake pedal.
It is in the center dash, behind the panel in the left side footwell.
If their is a relay it will be under the center console near the gear selecter. I believe however, it's a solenoid mounted on the left side of the transmission. Not so. Pull the glove box out and look to your left under the center dash vents. The relay is white and in a clip that is attached to the dash frame
Depending on power desired in the shift, between 2200-3500
Its in the lower section of the dash. You know the little storage area right in front of the gear shift? Remove the part of the dash there, and the relay is on the left hand side of it.AnswerYou just remove the plastic panel on the inboard side of the driver's side footwell - one crosshead screw and one plastic DZUS type fastener turned 1/4 turn releases the panel from the front dash section. Remove the panel and the 5-way relay is right in front of you clipped to a hole in the side of the little storage locker that's in front of the gear shift. Push a flat blade screwdriver between the clip and the inside of the locker and the relay can be pulled forward and out.
Driver side, near the center, under the dash
