After seeing the movie when it was originally released I became enamored with the '57. After several years of research and contacting various individuals connected to the film I found out that Transcord (the company who provided vehicles for Return to Macon County and many other movies and television shows) sold the '57 from the movie about two or three years after the completion of the movie. It had sat in neglect at their (Transcord's) facilities and was sold to an employee of the company. From what I've been able to piece together(there's a lot of cloudiness in the memories of several people) the car passed through the hands of several owners and was sadly destroyed in a road accident in 1978 or 79. This info was gathered almost 30 years ago so it may or may not be 100% correct. Don Tittle.
