It should be located on the driver's side, inside the rear liftgate area with liftgate in up position. It is real close to the driver's side taillight assembly. Ther is a lid you pop up to fill fluid.

I believe only the ( 1997 ) model year of the Mercury Mountaineer had a separate washer fluid tank for the rear liftgate . Anything newer , the liftgate washer fluid was supplied by the front windshield washer fluid reservoir in the engine compartment * on the 1997 Mercury Mountaineer , you opened the liftgate and there was a fill plug just above the drivers side tail light , the reservoir was in the storage compartment where the wheel jack was located , behind the removable plastic panel , in the cargo area , near the liftgate on the drivers side

No , 1996 was the last model year that there was a separate washer fluid reservoir for the liftgate in the Ford Explorer

This doesn't totally answer your question , but on a 1997 Ford Taurus wagon you refill the liftgate washer fluid reservoir by opening the liftgate and you will see a rubber plug below the passenger side taillight . So the reservoir for the rear windshield must be behind the interior trim in the cargo area

If you have an Owners Manual, See page 75. If you don't have a manual, raise the liftgate(in the rear)the filler tube is right there above the left(driver side)taillight. If you're looking for the ACTUAL RESERVOIR BOTTLE, I'm sorry I don't know that answer, but I'd bet it would be behind the interior panel near the filler hole. Hope this helps! {8-D

First check under the hood, there might be a separate reservoir for it right by the windshield washer reservoir. It might also be at the back, lift the tailgate and there might be a little cap with a windshield wiper logo. Or the rear window washer might work off the front windshield reservoir. If it's shared at the front, then you'll have to keep the windshield washer fluid above the middle line on the windshield washer reservoir tank at least. Open the rear hatch. On the driver's side, there'll be a filler cap which is used to fill the rear window washer reservoir.
