The trunk release is under the steering wheel. Look on the dash, below the handle for the wheel tilt... It's somewhere along there.
The trunk release for a 1997 Chevy Lumina is located on the driver side floor. An emergency release is also located inside the trunk.
Mine doesn't have automatic trunk release. I use the key to unlock my doors to open the trunk.

Who said two twelves can not fit in a lumina trunk i have two fifteens and last year i had four twelves.
I have a 1997 Lumina LS and no, the trunk cannot be easily accessed via the rear seat.
there probably isn't one. my 91 lumina doesn't have one. if it does however, its in the glove box. I own a 95 and the trunk release is to the left of the steering column and about where the drivers left knee is at the dash. The button on mine is yellow, and straight down from the air vent on the dash.
Use your key.
Electric trunk release mechanism my be worn out--check to see if you are getting power to same--if so it needs replacement

It should be a yellow button located on the bottom side of your dash (by your knees) beside the emergency brake.
It's called the tunk lip!
